Flexible Part-Time Opportunity | Fixed-Term Contract | February 2027 Start

An exciting opportunity is available for a Staff Specialist in General Medicine to join a well-established tertiary healthcare service in Hobart, Tasmania.

This role is ideal for a specialist who enjoys holistic general medicine, managing complex medical presentations, and contributing to the education and development of junior medical staff within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

• Competitive salary: $222,789–$319,701 per annum, pro rata, plus 12% superannuation

• Part-time flexibility: Up to 38 hours per fortnight, with hours negotiable

• Fixed-term contract: February 2027 to February 2028, or as negotiated

The Role

You will provide specialist assessment and management of patients with acute and complex medical conditions across inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering high-quality, patient-centred General Medicine care

• Supporting and mentoring junior doctors, registrars and medical students

• Contributing to multidisciplinary collaboration and clinical leadership

• Participating in research, quality improvement and service development

What We’re Looking For

• Specialist registration in a relevant specialty with the Medical Board of Australia, or eligibility via an applicable specialist pathway

• Demonstrated experience in General Medicine

• Strong clinical, communication and teamwork skills

• A commitment to teaching, mentoring and continuous improvement

Eligible International Medical Graduates may also be considered, subject to registration and qualification requirements.
